Our brain is capable of producing a series of substances (neurotransmitters) which, like "drugs", can change our mental state.
There are some simple activities that allow us to stimulate the production of these very important neurotransmitters. Let's see what they are and how to produce them:
Dopamine aka the chemistry of reward (vitality)
- Make a list of goals and achieve them;
- Celebrate small successes;
- Take care of you ;
Serotonin aka mood stabilizer (good mood)
- Meditate;
- Take a walk;
- Stay in the sun;
- Immerse yourself in nature;
- Appreciate what you have;
Oxytocin aka the love hormone (affection)
- Be gentle;
- Give a compliment;
- Hug or cuddle someone;
- Play or pet an animal;
Endorphin aka the pain antagonist (well-being)
- Watch a comedy movie or funny video;
- Eat some chocolate;
- Laugh;
- Do physical activity;
- Listen to some music you like;
Gaba aka antistress (serenity)
- Practice some mindfulness;
- Eat dried fruit (walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts), legumes (beans, broad beans, lentils) or spinach and tomatoes;
- Drink a herbal tea made from chamomile flowers, lime blossom or passion flower.
